Scott’s Farm saved from school plans

SCOTT’S Farm has been saved from the bulldozers after the State Development Minister Grace Grace said the 120ha Ripley site was now unsuitable for a school.

The Scott’s, who have had the farm since 1893, have been fighting for more than two years to prevent the farm from being carved up by the State Government.

John Scott’s daughter, Belinda Lowe, called the Tribune on Thursday evening to share the news.

"I was bawling my eyes out in the office at work as my dad read out the letter to me," Belinda said.

"My colleagues were coming in and asking ‘are you ok?’

"They thought I had bad news, but I was just so excited, I have been jumping up and down with happiness.

"The release of stress is amazing – it has been the most unbelievable day."

Belinda thanked the community for its staunch support and the Ipswich Tribune for its coverage over the past two years.

"The Tribune has put so much effort into supporting us and putting our story out there, we have appreciated that so much."
