THREE people are dead after the light plane they were flying in crashed into bushland near Fernvale on Monday.
Gary Liehm, an experienced pilot, businessman Tom Strachan and his son Noah, have been identified as the three people involved.
Police reports indicate that inclement weather may have caused the plane to drop rapidly from 2,000 feet to 500 feet before crashing.
Police have advised that the plane left Dalby at 10am and was due to land at Archerfield at 2pm.
The search for the aircraft began when it failed to arrive. It was located during an aerial search. The plane was reported to be in two pieces with wreckage strewn 50 metres apart.
Due to the location, emergency services struggled to get to the scene and needed to approach the wreckage on foot.
All three occupants were pronounced deceased at the scene.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.
