Climb inside a life-sized Thomas the Tank Engine at the much-loved Day Out With Thomas.
DIRECT from the Island of Sodor, everyone’s favourite blue steam engine, Thomas the Tank Engine, and his cheerful crew are chugging back to Ipswich this summer holidays.
This time, they’re bringing a vibrant twist to the much-loved Day Out With Thomas program.
In a rail-tastic first, Thomas and Friends will be embarking on a journey to explore the enchanting world of colour with Day Out With Thomas: The Colour Tour.
The Colour Tour will make a whistle-stop at Queensland Museum Rail Workshops, North Ipswich from December 27 until January 26.
This year visitors can expect a kaleidoscope of family-friendly activities from chromatic experiments and vibrant mosaics to 3D drawing masterpieces, there’s no shortage of colourful fun.
Even Thomas himself will be rolling in on the action!
With plenty of fun for everyone, bring your friends and family to create new memories and hop on board for a rainbow-hued railway adventure you won’t soon forget!
Tickets for Day Out With Thomas: The Colour Tour come with a full day of excitement at Queensland's premier rail museum. Visitors will be able to climb inside a life-sized Thomas the Tank Engine, witness a genuine steam engine in action, and groove with Sir Topham Hatt.
Every day promises entertainment galore, including carnival rides, face painting, track building, arts and crafts, intriguing trails and movies.
Queensland Museum Network CEO Jim Thompson said Thomas the Tank Engine had stood the test of time since its creation in 1945 and was a great introduction to trains for all ages.
“The timeless appeal of the children’s classic, Thomas the Tank Engine, has transformed over the years to entertain and captivate a new generation with stories of daring escapades, courage and friendship,” Dr Thompson said.
“This event is a fun family day out on the rails, brimming with excitement and interactive adventure.
“Enjoy a show with Sir Topham Hatt, find Thomas’ friends on the trail and get hands-on with a range of Thomas activities including craft, colour activities, rides, face painting and games.”
Tickets to a Day Out With Thomas: The Colour Tour include entry to the museum where you can also explore 15 larger-than-life exhibits, get up close to locomotives and vintage carriages, drive a train simulator and spark curiosity in the Sciencentre.
Day Out With Thomas: The Colour Tour runs from December 27 to January 26 from 8.30am-3pm. Tickets (includes Museum entry) are $21 (adults), $19 (concession) and $17 (children 3-15 years). A family ticket is $68.5 (2 adults and up to 2
children). Children under 3 years are free.
A Sensory Friendly Day out with Thomas will be held on January 6 and 17.
There will be two special events: a Night Out With Thomas: Under the Stars on January 20 from 5pm-8pm and for annual passholders, a Day Out With Thomas: The Colour Tour Sir Topham Hat Annual Pass Breakfast on January 11 and 13 from 7.30am-
8.30am.
