Ex-MasterChef workshop rescheduled
1 min read

RESIDENTS will still have the chance to learn from MasterChef contestant Georgia Barnes how to prepare delicious meals at home – but just a little later on the calendar than originally planned.

Ms Barnes will now drop into Ipswich next month after having to reschedule last week’s workshop.

Ipswich Councillor Andrew Fechner said the family-orientated workshop remained a great opportunity to discover all about nutritional education and the importance of eating a rainbow of foods.

“Georgia is a much-loved food enthusiast, educator, nutritionist and chef, who is all about balance and the love of beautiful food,” Cr Fechner said.

“Cooking and eating nutritious meals with our families and households is a great way to stay healthy, learn new skills, and try new foods.”

Ms Barnes said her grandmother had inspired her to excel in the kitchen.

“I grew up with my grandmother as my role model in the kitchen,” Ms Barnes said.

“From an early age, I spent hours at the kitchen bench, two phone books underfoot, creating my own masterpieces or helping at any opportunity.

“Born and bred in the bayside suburbs of Brisbane, I have also spent quality time with my family fishing, gardening and learning about the holistic origin of food.”

She said her fascination with food inspired her to complete a Bachelor of Health Science in Nutrition and provided an in-depth knowledge of food.

“This will be the second workshop I have facilitated in Ipswich; I am very much looking forward to coming back to the city,” Ms Barnes said.

“I will be talking all things nutrition and demonstrating colourful, easy recipes that are nutrient-dense but, most importantly, which are packed with flavour.”

Ipswich residents can also look forward to three more upcoming workshops as part of a series hosted by Nutrition Australia: Boost your Energy, Healthy Supermarket Hacks, and Health on a budget.

The Wholesome at Home Nutrition – Eating the Rainbow workshop – with Celebrity Chef Georgia Barnes, at North Ipswich Reserve Corporate Centre, will now go ahead on Friday, March 31.
