BRIGHT and sunny, Jo-Anne Bulow (pictured) loves sunflowers. There are more than 32,300sqm (8ac) of them in bloom right now at Mount Walker Sunflowers. The cheery flowers look amazing in photographs and when cut, brighten up a room. Norm Kerle and his family grow the sunflowers for their seeds. His meticulous handywork is evident in the many rows standing tall and open right now. “They’ve grown terrifically, they’d be around eight or nine feet high,” he said. “There are flowers that would be about seven or eight inches round. They are out fully now and absolutely beautiful.” There will be another 10ha (25 ac) flowering in another month to six weeks time. If weather permits, there is still another 26ha (65ac) to go in. You can buy a bunch and take happy snaps at 1991 Rosewood-Warrill View Road, Mount Walker. See classifieds for details.
