THE Rosewood RSL Sub Branch recently won a grant to purchase a shade shelter for use at annual events.
RSL Secretary Carmel Luetchford said the grant through the RACQ Foundation met the stated aim of the Foundation, which was “assist grassroot community organisations as they are the heart of every community”.
“The Rosewood RSL application was chosen as one of twelve shortlisted groups for the People’s Choice Award and this gave the Sub Branch an opportunity to secure between $1,000 to $4,000 through a community voting process,” she said.
“After a vigorous campaign to secure community votes, the Sub Branch was awarded sponsorship of $1000 which allowed us to purchase a quality shade marquee with RSL branding to use in its delivery of services to veterans in the local community.”
RACQ Member Engagement Manager Daniel Lorkin, attended the recent Remembrance Day Service in Rosewood where he was able to view the marquee in use and a public thank you was made by Rosewood RSL Sub Branch President Bernie Mason after the service.
“Members have found the new marquee to be easy and convenient to use and it will provide much needed shade for sub branch activities well into the future.”
