THE Ashwell State School community gathered earlier this month to ‘blow out the candles’ on the 135th anniversary of the opening of the school.
Principal Dallas Schmidt said that special guest and former student Mr Reinke joined in the celebrations to wish the school a happy birthday and to thank the staff for the wonderful work that they continue to do.
“Together we enjoyed cake and a picnic under the shade of the trees beside the school oval … bearded dragons even joined us as they enjoyed the sunshine on what was a perfect day,” she said.
“We love to take up any opportunity to appreciate and to utilise the open and natural spaces that we are fortunate to be surrounded by at our school.
“Happy Birthday was sung, stories were shared and the cake was enjoyed by all of our parents, staff, students and families who all came together to celebrate our wonderful school.”
