MARBURG and District Residents Association hosted a fun morning in the Marburg Community Park on the Australia Day holiday.

Egg and bacon rolls, barbecued sausages, lamingtons and Anzac biscuits were on the menu and enjoyed by those present.

During the morning, people enjoyed poetry by Denleigh Stenzel and Carolyn Allen and were entertained with Aussie songs by Jo and Dave Baker.

Some games were held including a thong race, and egg and spoon races which were reminiscent of the game enjoyed by earlier generations.

Mixing your own damper and then cooking it over the coals was fun and it tasted great.

The Marburg Community Art and Crafts group put on a display of their work in the Marburg Community Centre.

All in all, it was a great community event to celebrate our national day.
