Stargazing through telescopes in the Flinders - Goolman Conservation Estate is among highlights of the autumn Experience Nature Program.
STARGAZING at the Flinders-Goolman Reserve and birdwatching at the Stirling Road Reserve are among the options from March to May under the Enviroplan program
“A huge program of unique nature-based experiences will be on offer this autumn in Ipswich’s Enviroplan conservation areas,” said Environment and Sustainability Committee Chairperson Cr Jim Madden.
“The Experience Nature season from March to May contains special events and activities that highlight Ipswich’s precious natural environment.”
Enviroplan is a ratepayer funded initiative styled to protect and enhance conservation areas.
“The cooler weather of autumn is the perfect time to explore our Enviroplan conservation areas,” Cr Madden said.
Of the 12 Enviroplan estates and reserves, nine are open to the public.
“Some are hidden gems providing essential habitat in urban areas, including the ones highlighted this autumn are Haig Street Quarry Bushland Reserve in Brassall, White Rock-Spring Mountain Conservation Estate in Redbank Plains and Denmark Hill Conservation Reserve in Ipswich.”
Highlights of the 2025 Experience Nature program include:
• Use the free Agents of Discovery app to play a mission in a new conservation area each month. Complete the mission to enter the draw for great prizes.
• Appreciate nature in new ways, whether a guided mindfulness walk or joining local artist Deb Mostert on a nature sketching session.
• Take a guided hike with a twist with Discovery Ipswich, when you explore nature by moonlight.
• Join bird and plant experts on tours of Rosewood’s Stirling Road Reserve, which is normally closed to the public.
• Active and Healthy has the Easter school holidays sorted with fun nature-based activities from kids’ yoga to mountain biking for beginners.
• Landholders and experts will be inspired by collaborative conservation action on the Little Liverpool Range at the Connecting Corridors Forum.
•Expand your horizons through Ipswich Libraries Learn for Life: Indigenous astronomy.
