A WALLOON resident is hoping the owners of the Rosewood Post Office will consider adding a ramp access onto the building.
Shirley Robinson said she relies on the services that are provided at
the Post Office to pay her bills and for other personal needs.
“I have lived in Walloon for over 50 years, and the Rosewood Post Office is the closest facility from my home, where I can pay my bills in person,” she said.
“The problem is that there is no ramp access.
“To me this does not make any sense whatsoever, because there are so many people who would need to access the building who have health issues, who are in wheelchairs and who simply cannot walk up the stairs.
Ms Robinson said she had been advised by the staff at the post office that the building was privately owned, and had offered to meet her at the bottom of the stairs to help her with her transactions.
“This is simply not an option and it is so wrong because I do not want to give someone who I do not know my personal bills, my personal bankcard and my personal details,” she said.
Ms Robinson is 80-years-old and is not able to walk up stairs. She believes there are many people in the district who would share the same problem.
