COUNCILLORS voted unanimously recently to renew Chief Executive Officer Sonia Cooper’s contract.
Mayor Teresa Harding said Ms Cooper (pictured) had been a positive influence in her role and had often exceeded expectations.
“Sonia is a highly skilled CEO who has dedicated herself to the role during the past four years with commitment and professionalism, and continues to consistently meet or exceed performance measures,” Cr Harding said.
“She continues to play a significant role in maintaining stability in council so that we can all focus on serving our community.
“Feedback from employee experience surveys highlight the organisation’s appreciation for the CEO’s empathetic, transparent and approachable leadership style.
“The CEO is an exemplary leader and best placed to keep our city moving forward.”
Ms Cooper is the first female CEO in the role at Ipswich City Council.
