Chappy Week at Rosewood High
1 min read

ROSEWOOD State High School celebrated Chappy Week, by hosting a lunch for the school community followed by a basketball competition, music, games and giveaways.

This year, Chaplaincy Queensland is celebrating 33 years in state schools, with Chappy Week celebrated during the month of May to highlight the role of chaplaincy and to raise awareness of the support chaplains provide in schools.

“Chaplaincy is about supporting the school community socially, emotionally, practically and spiritually,” said Jacinta Harrison.

“At school this is demonstrated through a breakfast club, a lunch program and a variety of programs to support the needs of the school.

“We are currently running a grief and loss program called, Seasons for Growth, a personal development and mentoring program and the love bites program which displays respect through relationships.

“Statistics show that every year chaplains have 386,800 informal conversations with students about bullying, harassment, friendships, peer issues and mental health topics.”

Ms Harrison acknowledged the sponsors, community representatives and volunteers who supported the celebration.

“A special thank you to school Chaplain Tracey Ballard for all of the wonderful things that she brings to the school community.”
