1 min read

LOCAL primary producers have until April 8 to apply for a grant that funds sustainable agriculture projects.

The Government opened the first round of Capacity Building Grants in February last year.

The second round opened on February 18 this year.

This round will provide up to $16.58 million over three years from 2025 to 2026 and 2027 to 2028.

Each grant makes available between $250,000 and $3,000,000 to successful applicants.

The objective of Capacity Building Grants is the support of farmers by giving them better access to knowledge and skills relating to best practice climate smart sustainable agriculture.

Projects funded are those that will increase awareness, knowledge and skills that are climate smart.

Community organisations like Landcare groups and First Nations people are also eligible to apply for a grant.

Farmers and landholders who adopt climate smart and sustainable agriculture practices can apply too.

Funding is also available for initiatives and information resources that assist the agricultural sector to increase adoption of climate smart and sustainable agriculture practices at scale.
