The Eastern Rosella is a common sight in our region and it seems that only when we get the chance to look at length at its remarkable plumage, do we realise that while it may be common, it is not commonplace. Late last year, one was spotted by a photographer on the Norfolk Broads - an area near the border of the counties of Norfolk and Suffolk in England - and was described as an “exotic and wonderfully colourful bird”. The sighting sparked a debate on whether it had migrated from Australia or was a cage escapee - the latter explanation naturally won the day.
