A CHURCH hall filled with decorated Christmas trees is something the Rosewood community are working hard to achieve.

The idea is to deck the hall with as many trees as possible in the Uniting Church’s’ first annual Treefest.

Reverand Jeanette Taubner has been part of this type of event before.

“When I was in Longreach, the Anglican Church there did it,” she said.

“We took a tree from our church to add to theirs.

“When I was in Booval, we had three years of the Treefest concept.”

The Reverend is bringing the event to Rosewood after seeing how delighted other communities were to be part of what typically turns out to be an impressive display.

The impressive part is in the sheer number of trees.

“We are doing this for community involvement, it gives people a chance to do something without being too involved,” she said.

“It’s really good because they feel like they’ve given something through the joy and excitement in it.

“Then there’s seeing the reactions as people come to look at all the trees.”

So far there are 39 decorated Christmas trees booked for the hall.

She has invited the community and local businesses to jump on board.

Businesses adding trees can decorate as a form of marketing.

Perhaps their brand and colours will get noticed when the event opens to the public.

It’s also a fabulous way for someone who loves decorating a big tree but has no space at home, to scratch that itch.

The beauty of this is you get to showcase your special talents for the community to admire.

There is still time to decorate and add your tree to the tally.

Trees will be set up in the Uniting Church hall on John Street in Rosewood.

Submissions need to be at the hall from December 14.

Residents and visitors can pop by to check them out from December 20 to December 24 between 3pm and 8pm.

The church has organised lucky dips for kids and tea, coffee and biscuits for a gold coin donation.

You’ll be able to take your tree home when the event closes on December 24.
