HE WAS born in Ipswich and raised on a Marburg dairy farm, now Jon Krause has been appointed Deputy Speaker of the Queensland Parliament.
As Scenic Rim MP Jon’s been an advocate for primary producers for more than a decade.
Born to Marburg Show Society stalwarts Robert and Janet Krause, a childhood spent on the land was grounding for the future.
His father was treasurer of Marburg Rural Fire Brigade and in 2022 was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia in the General Division for his life-long service to the Marburg community.

The election of Speakers has been a tradition in Queensland Parliament since it first met in 1859.
The most recent government is the 58th in Queensland’s history.
This new role has the Scenic Rim MP ensconced within the annals of parliamentary history.
"The LNP Government got straight down to work delivering on commitments made to the people of Queensland when Parliament met a couple of weeks ago,” he said.
“It's an honour to have been appointed Deputy Speaker.
“Parliament is the most important body in Queensland's democracy.
“Together with the Speaker, Pat Weir, there's an important role to act independently, not only in managing debates and conduct of MPs in the chamber, but also in providing Queenslanders with a forum to take their views to MPs and the government between elections."
Speakers in State Parliament have considerable power.
They can issue by-election writs, warrants for parliamentary privilege offenders and if necessary, have offenders brought before the Bar of Parliament for rebuke or sentence.
The office of Speaker dates back to early English parliaments in the 14th century however unlike the Speaker of the British House of Commons, the Speaker of Queensland Parliament does not resign from his or her political party and is still required to contest elections.
