A GROUP of campers were rescued at a Rosewood campsite over the weekend when the Bremer River broke its banks.
They had been camping at Thagoona Shady River Camp since Friday.
Swift water teams safely rescued three adults, five children and two dogs.
Meanwhile, a couple at Coleyville were also plucked to safety after their caravan become inundated.
The rescues came after periods of torrential weekend rain, with large parts of South East Queensland copping heavy dumps, including some areas that recorded more than 230mm.
On Monday morning, the Bremer River measured 6.4m at the David Trumpy Bridge and the River Heart Parklands was closed to the public.
Ipswich police issued a reminder to the public to take extra caution this week.
“Road closures and road conditions can change rapidly as creeks and water courses rise quickly and can turn roads into rapids before you know it,” a police spokeswoman said.
“Motorists are urged to not ignore road closure signs as they could be protecting travellers from washouts, craters, and other hazards, and not to attempt to cross flooded roads, causeways, or water courses.”

Catchments from Grandchester through Tallegalla, Rosewood, Marburg and surrounding districts were already awash, heavy falls overnight on Saturday – Sunday pushed floodwaters from gullies and creeks and the Bremer River across the roads and turned low lying land into lakes. According to the Bureau of Meteorology rainfall stations the following falls were recorded between 9am Saturday and 9am Sunday.
