Former councillor praised for 60 years of service
1 min read

THE Ipswich West MP recently celebrated former councillor for Moreton Shire John Turner and his 60 years of service as a Justice of the Peace.

State Member Wendy Bourne said Mr Turner’s long stint as a Justice of the Peace was proof of his commitment to the community.

“I was delighted I had the honour of presenting John with a Long Service Award at his home, recognising his exceptional contributions over the years,” Ms Bourne said.

“His legacy is one of selfless service, marked by an enduring commitment to making a difference in the lives of others.

“Together with his wife Chrissie, his influence on the Rosewood and broader community has been profound.

“Chrissie’s own dedication to helping others and her commitment to community work have earned both John and Chrissie their place on the Town and Country Volunteers Honour Board in Rosewood.”

Mr Turner, a councillor with Moreton Shire from 1991-1995, is a Life Member of the Rosewood Apex Club, the Ambulance Committee, and the Cabanda Board.

He served on the board of the Anzac Park Sport and Recreation Club alongside his wife, with both involved in Queensland Cancer Council door knock appeals, the Rosewood Bowls Club, and St Brigid’s Parish and School.

“His contributions, alongside Chrissie’s, have left a lasting mark within the Ipswich West community,” Ms Bourne added.

“We are fortunate to have such dedicated individuals who continue to make a difference every day.”
