
Rosewood Lion Christine Forrest, Rosewood Lions’ Youth of the Year Isabella Molinaro, Fassifern Lions’ Youth of the Year Abigail Walsh and Boonah Lions’ and Regional Youth of the Year Kate McKenna and Rosewood Lion Eirys Heit at the regional finals on Saturday.
ROSEWOOD Lions Youth of the Year, Faith Lutheran College student, Isabella Molinaro competed against two other students from Boonah State High School on Saturday for the quest’s Regional title.
The regional final was held at the Rosewood State school hall.
Boonah Lions’ Youth of the Year Kate McKenna from Boonah High took home the title, while Abigail Walsh (Fassifern Lions’ Youth of the Year and Boonah High student) and Isabella were also congratulated for their efforts.
As part of Saturday’s competition, the three teenagers delivered two impromptu speeches and a personal speech which followed an interview that had already taken place before the public speeches.
Isabella said she was quite nervous the morning of the final but she was ready to give it her best while also wishing her fellow competitors well.
“It was great when I was selected as the Rosewood Lions Youth of the Year prior to the regional final as I feel as though it definitely opened up many more opportunities for me going into the future,” she said.
“It was good that my previous involvements in community and within my school were recognised during the process and my prepared speech was all about community service and volunteering.
“These two topics are very personal to me because of my volunteer involvement.”
Outside school Isabella enjoys photography, art and being involved and active in the community.
She congratulated Kate who will now go on to compete in the District Final which will be held on March 26 in Upper Mount Gravatt.
