THE Rosewood Pool came alive with young voices as students from St Brigid’s Catholic Primary School cheered on their swimmer competing in freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly.
On the day of the carnival, students were divided into two sporting houses, Casey and O’Rourke and cheers, laughter and screams were heard from their house areas as they cheered on their swimmers to the finish line.
Teacher Mr Mills encouraged all students to have a go, before congratulating them with a high five or a thumbs up at the finish line.
“What a great day full of fun, action and of course a slight amount of competitiveness.
“All students should be very proud of themselves and you all go home as winners.
“It was very close between the two Houses with the tally for the win changing throughout the day.
“After the final count O’Rourke was announced the winner.”
The big race of the day was between the six fastest swimmers in the school who were Holly Bazzo, Tahnee Sparke, Caitlin Proctor, Barrett Banks, Abbey Wright and Peppa-Rae Lucht.
As the starting alarm was sounded the swimmers pushed off the blocks and with only a finger length between first and second place, Tahnee Sparke took home the crown.
The competition ended with a fun relay race between the students and the teachers where with only seconds between them, the students came home with the win.
A special presentation was held back at the school after the carnival and trophies were awarded to the first, second and third age champions in each grade.
Ribbons were also awarded to the students for their placements in each race.
