Police station expected to be completed mid-year
1 min read

THE $4 million Rosewood Police Station is due to be completed by the middle of this year.

The announcement follows a tour of the site at the corner of John and Railway Streets by Member for Ipswich West, Jim Madden, earlier this month.

On January 11, Member for Ipswich West Jim Madden was provided with a guided tour at this site by Regional Manager of Northbuild Andrew Civil and Site Supervisor Ashley Trollope on the corner of John and Railway Street, Rosewood where the project is taking place.

“The former police station has now been demolished, the heritage listed weatherboard police house has been prepared for relocation on site and the lower section of the more modern police house has been demolished with the upper section made ready for removal off-site.

“The site is now ready for the next stage of construction, which will involve relocating the heritage listed portion of the police house onto the site of the former police station.”

Currently, while the construction is taking place the Rosewood Police are located at the Marburg Police Station, and it is planned that a Mobile Police Facility will be located at the Rosewood Library carpark, but this is subject to a licence agreement with the Ipswich City Council.

“Once again I would like to thank Minister for Police and Community Safety Mark Ryan for listening to my requests that a new station be built in Rosewood, because Officer in Charge at the Rosewood Police Station, Sergeant Travis Ehrich, and his team, deserve the best facilities possible and I believe they will receive this with the new station.”
