Rosewood RSL assist scooter run into town

THE Rosewood RSL Sub Branch and community members gave a welcoming wave as riders from the Scootaville Ride entered the Rosewood Showgrounds last Saturday.

The charity ride raises funds for Legacy.

It involves 50cc motor scooters which are riden from the Rosewood Showgrounds to the Air Force Base in Townsville. It’s a journey of just over 2,000 kilometres which takes 16 days.

A total profit of $175 was made from the Rosewood RSLs breakfast that was served to all who attended on the day.

Rosewood RSL Sub Branch Vice-President Brian McLucas said that the RSL members woke early to prepare, cook and serve the breakfast to the Scootaville participants and their supporters.

“It is really great to be involved in supporting Legacy, because Legacy work hard to support our Veterans and their families,” he said.

“Despite the wet weather, many families came out to welcome the riders and to talk to them about the long ride ahead.”

“The 26 Squadron from the Amberley Airbase also attended to enjoy the breakfast and to have a chat, it was a really enjoyable morning had by all.
