Rosewood Showgrounds lights pledge
1 min read

THE LNP says it will give $800,000 to Rosewood Showgrounds for long-awaited arena lights if it wins the vote in Ipswich West.

LNP candidate for Ipswich West Georgia Toft said the Rosewood Show Society and community groups had been forgotten over the past 10 years.

“My family and I grew up competing at Ag Shows across Queensland and were on the committees of local show groups, so I know how much quality infrastructure makes a difference and helps boost competitor numbers,” Ms Toft said.

“The first agricultural show in Rosewood was held in 1877, so it is about time there was permanent lighting at the Rosewood showgrounds.

“These lights will allow for more nighttime events in Rosewood, helping to boost tourism and bring more money in for the local community.”

Rosewood Show Committee President Paddy Lenihan said lights would help drive down costs for volunteer-run organisations.

“Currently, to run nighttime events for the Rosewood Show we must hire light towers, hire generators and purchase fuel,” he said.

“We then have to pay for delivery of transport of towers to the showgrounds or rely on our show society members and volunteers to pick up or drop off the light towers.”
