Seeking information about a plaque found at the Rosewood RSL hall

ROSEWOOD History Group Convenor David Pahlke, RSL President Bernie Mason and local resident Barbara McKenzie are hoping someone can give them some background about a plaque in the Rosewood RSL hall.

The plaque hangs beside the main stage and the name, Sydney Eric Edwards is inscribed on it.

David Pahlke said that he came across it recently, and he was shocked that he had never noticed it there before.

“After spotting the plaque I met at the hall with Rosewood RSL President Bernie and Barbara McKenzie who is a relative of Sydney’s at the hall,” he said.

“Barbara has no idea what the plaque means or why it was put up in the hall and we would all just like to find out more about what the plaque means and why it is there.

“What we do know is Sydney did live in Rosewood, and he was a member of the Volunteer Defence Corps when it first formed here in Rosewood.

“This information is a start and it could be related somehow to the plaque and why it is situated inside of the RSL hall.

“For anyone with information relating to Sydney, the family or this plaque please reach out because we would like to put together the pieces to this puzzle which is an important part of Rosewoods history.”
