THE smell of dagwood dogs, hot chips and fairy floss filled the air for the milestone 150th anniversary of the Ipswich Show last weekend.
The Show promised to be bigger and better – and it most certainly was, with more than 34,000 revellers flooding through the gates – 2,000 more than its previous high two years ago.
Young and old alike flocked for rides on the dodgem cars and much-loved Show hit, the Ferris wheel.
Deputy Prime Minister Richard Marles was on hand to open the Show with Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk.
“It really is remarkable to imagine that, back in 1870, there were farmers in the region coming to this very spot to show off the best of their produce,” Mr Marles said.
“There is such a huge heritage associated with that, and with that comes an enormous amount of pride.
