A $3.5 million lift on the northern end of the Bradfield Bridge will be put to council next week to progress the missing link in the popular Brassall Bikeway project.
The lift would allow work on the final stage of the project, Stage 6, to progress, linking the bikeway to the CBD by connecting the existing riverbank path at Riverlink Shopping Centre to the Bradfield Bridge.
The Brassall Bikeway currently ends next to the Railway Workshops Museum at North Ipswich, with the missing link between WM Hughes Street and the Bradfield Bridge.
A more expensive ramp option costing between $8 to $14 million had been considered by Ipswich City Council but was ruled out in council’s Growth Infrastructure and Waste Committee meeting on Thursday.
In deliberations that divided the committee, councillors recommended puttin
