A MAN has died and a woman is in a critical condition following a two vehicle crash at Fernvale on Saturday morning.

Police reported that two vehicles, a Hyundai Excel and Suzuki Swift, crashed at the intersection of Forrest Hill Fernvale Road and Fielding Road just before 7.30am.

A Birkdale man, 58, the driver of the Hyundai, was transported in a critical condition to Princess Alexandra Hospital, where he died as a result of his injuries.

Another Birkdale man, 28, a passenger in the vehicle, was transported in a stable condition to Ipswich Hospital.

A Lowood woman,77, the driver and sole occupant of the Suzuki, was transported to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a critical condition.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances of the crash.
