Search continues for missing baby

POLICE are today continuing the search for a newborn baby who went missing from Ipswich Hospital.

An amber alert remains for the two-day-old baby girl who went missing on Monday, with police wanting to speak to an 18-year-old over the matter.

Queensland Police issued the alert “as a matter of extreme urgency” late yesterday and believe the newborn may be at “significant risk”.

They would like to speak to Khloe Bornen, who turned 18 in February.

She is described as white, around 165cm tall, with a proportionate build and brown hair.

Police earlier said two women were seen taking the baby before putting her into a white Suzuki Liana.

West Moreton Health Chief Executive Hannah Bloch said the mother discharged herself and her child soon after giving birth.

“I am disclosing this information in the public interest so women can continue to feel safe giving birth at Ipswich Hospital,” she said.

“This was an isolated incident and the healthcare provided to mother and baby is not in question.”
