84 townhouse development planned for Redbank Plains
1 min read

AN 84-townhouse development is in the planning for a block of land on School Road at Redbank Plains.

Documents proposing the staged development of the two-storey townhouses on land beside Staines Memorial College, were lodged with the Ipswich City Council in early January.

Already under consideration by Council, are documents which were lodged with Council in November seeking the go ahead to subdivide the two hectares into two allotments.

An overview of the two applications indicates that the first proposes to establish a childcare centre on Lot 1, the smaller of the two proposed allotments.

The childcare centre proposal involving an intake of 111 children and the engagement of 19 staff is currently going through the public notification stage.

The second application proposes a rezoning from Future Urban (medium density) to Multiple Residential to facilitate the construction of the townhouses.

Town planners acting for the developer, the Kasa Group, explain in a report to Council that the proposed three-bedroom townhouses are … “contemporary in design and are proposed to resemble a number of terrace style dwellings with common walls”.

The proposal includes private space in the form of an outdoor terrace at the rear of each townhouse.

As part of stage one of the project, a 310 sqm communal open space will be developed in a central location on the site. It is to include plantings and communal facilities such as a shade structure and/or picnic setting and playground.

The developer is proposing four stages with 22 townhouses constructed in the first stage and 23 in each of the subsequent stages.
