Ipswich star’s high-flying grand final reward
1 min read

IPSWICH’S latest sporting supremo Dakota Davidson didn’t want to touch the AFLW Premiership Cup on a recent visit to Ipswich Girls’ Grammar School.

She feared handling the prized cup at her former school would jinx her team’s grand final hopes.

However, the larger-than-life footballer was among the first to celebrate after sharing in the Brisbane Lions’ latest 44-27 victory over North Melbourne.

As a sporting all-rounder growing up in Ipswich, Dakota could only dream of winning an AFLW title.

Now the powerhouse forward has become one of the Lions’ most lethal players, booting two decisive fourth-quarter goals to set up her team’s latest triumph.

Dakota was distressed and in doubt for the grand final after injuring her left knee in the preliminary final win over Geelong at Springfield.

However, the Ipswich born and bred achiever was cleared to play, giving the Lions a major boost for their final trip to Melbourne.

Dakota, 24, rose to the occasion, providing another memorable moment for the Lions team based at Ipswich’s premier sporting facility - Brighton Homes Arena.
