CHALLENGE of the Nations netball officials are planning an Ipswich return next year after a successful two-day carnival in the city.

They are just waiting to confirm the 2024 dates.

Events manager Jean Teamoke-Teao was delighted to see 102 teams and nearly 1000 netballers from nine nations involved at the Ipswich courts over two consecutive Saturdays.

“We are hoping that we can come back here next year for our 10th year,” Teamoke-Teao said.

“It will be around the same time.

“Everyone has enjoyed themselves.

“It’s lovely to watch.”

Despite rainy conditions on day two, the tournament finished with exciting playoffs.

“We were good because the courts held out too,” she said. “We’ve been blessed.”

Multiple divisions were contested in development, social, mixed and competitive grades from under 12 to open level.

The open competitive final was won by Cl Ulu-O-Te-Watu 28-14 over Samoa Team Misa.

Maori Matariki beat Tonga Hone 13-11 in the Open Mixed Competitive final.

“I look at them all the same,” Teamoke-Teao said of their importance.

“It’s just bringing our people together to enjoy it.

“It’s been a massive month for me preparing leading up into this but for me, I stand here and watch and I’m okay.”

Teamoke-Teao praised Ipswich Netball Association president Nicole Virtue and her team, along with Ipswich City Council and supporter Queensland Senator Paul Scarr.

She said delegates from all the nations also deserved thanks.
