ROSEWOOD Golf Club Division 1 pennants captain Tim Woodford has been guiding his team from the sidelines after needing thumb surgery.
The skilful sportsman suffered his hand injury playing hockey early in the latest Moreton and District Golf Association (MDGA) competition.
However, that gave Tim an opportunity to encourage his teammates in a different role.
He has been impressed with the Rosewood team’s commitment, in only their second year in the elite Division 1 regional series.
With three matches to go, Rosewood’s Division 1 combination is in second spot and on target to make the MDGA finals.
Rosewood has so far enjoyed wins over Brisbane River Golf Club, Gatton Golf Club and Laidley Golf Club.
Rosewood also had a draw against last year's winners Sandy Gallop and endured their only loss by a narrow margin to Brookwater Golf Club.
Rosewood’s remaining three pennants rounds are against Ipswich Golf Club, Boonah Golf Club and Brisbane River Golf Club.
“If we win all three matches, we are guaranteed to be in the final,” Tim said.
Tim said Rosewood’s depth had been a major factor in their success so far.
Although nine players are selected for each fixture, Rosewood has a group of 13 to choose from.
The Division 1 team also features Jack Wojcicki, Shanker Silvadorae, Nathan McMillan, Jason Smith, Paul Boyd, Luke Woodford [Tim’s brother], Ronan Morgan, Tim Ross, Glen Peterson, Zac Menolotto, Warren Swan and Tony Sutton.

Rosewood’s Division 2 pennants side started with six consecutive wins.
They remain in second position, behind the Ipswich club, after their two latest Division 2 defeats.
“With two rounds left, they [the Division 2 team] have the same situation in front of them,” Tim said. “Win both games and make the final.”
Rosewood’s Division 2 side is captained by Shane Browning. His regular pennants teammates are Gary Collins, Luke Collins, Roger Graham, Damien Hangan, Jason Hanley, Darren Keeling, Paul Kuhn, Brett Sweeting, Kevin O’Connell, Zane Pike and David Roberts.
Tim thanked loyal clubman Ronan Morgan for his efforts doing the spreadsheets for the club.
