Council grants power festival events
1 min read

THE Council has agreed to help fund two of the region’s leading attractions.

The Ipswich Cup was handed $20,000 in sponsorship for the 2025 event while Willowbank Raceway gets $35,000 for the Winternationals.

Both events are on the calendar at the Festival of Horsepower month-long spectacular.

Ipswich Mayor Teresa Harding said the events boosted the city’s reputation as a must-visit destination.

“As one of the most popular events on the Queensland Racing Carnival program, the Ipswich Cup continues to attract thousands of visitors to our city every year and delivers well over $1 million to our economy,” Cr Harding said.

“Winternationals – the largest championship drag racing event held outside of the US – is attended by almost 17,000 each year, with more than 80 percent of spectators travelling into our city.

“The economic benefit of Winternationals to Ipswich is expected to be over $3 million, so council is proud to host the event this year.”

Winternationals will be held at Willowbank from June 5-8, while the Ipswich Cup will be held at Ipswich Turf Club on Saturday, June 21.

The Festival of Horsepower runs from June 1-30.
