ROSEWOOD United Soccer Club president Tammy Crawford shared in the disappointment of 18 Crusaders teams having to wait until after Easter to launch their 2025 Queensland Christian Soccer Association (QCSA) seasons.

Tammy was preparing to join the club’s Senior Women’s squad about to play their opening over-30’s game against Raceview at Caledonian Park last Saturday night.

The Rosewood United Roses are moving from last season’s Division 4 competition, where they were premiers, to a new challenge this season.

However, QCSA officials cancelled all scheduled Round 1 matches last weekend due to wet fields across the region.

As a player and leading club official, Tammy was eager to see the Crusaders junior and senior teams kick off a new season before the school holidays and Easter long weekend.

They have to wait until April 25 and 26 to start a new season in scheduled Round 2 games.

“They’re gone. It is what it is,” Tammy said of the cancelled matches.

No Round 1 encounters will be replayed.

“We haven’t had a start off to a season like this [wet conditions] for a couple of years now and the hard bit is we’ve now got school holidays,” she said.

“You can’t put the round in anywhere.”

Tammy recalls some early games being lost in 2022.

She accepted the latest decision had to be across all competitions.

“What happens is you go out and you check your fields and if you have to pull a field, you pull it,” Tammy said.

“Once so many [QCSA] clubs pull their fields, they won’t worry about trying to reschedule half [the round].”

The decision was to cancel all QCSA matches last weekend.

Tammy said the main field at Caledonian Park was playable for the opening round.

However, the bottom field at the Thagoona venue was “super squishy’’ late in the week.

“After the fields dry, they are going to be just stunning,” Tammy said.

“Our main field – our full field – is just beautiful.

“We were just excited to get all our teams going.”

Junior teams have up to 16 games planned this season, with the senior sides involved in what started as 18 round competitions.

Rosewood’s junior teams include a 15-16 boys combination and girls’ sides in under 12 and under 14.

The club is fielding mixed teams in under 7 and under 9.

“It should be good,” Tammy said.

Tammy said the Senior Women’s squad of 19 was planning light training before their scheduled Round 2 game against Sunnybank Saints at Caledonian Park on April 26.

She said 14 home games were planned that day.

Tammy said with some boy’s sides playing at Redbank Plains on Anzac Day, she hoped club officials could organise a ceremony before the game to honour the Anzac traditions.

Tammy was also eager to see the club’s over 30 men’s team kickstart their season in Division 2.

She said a squad of 19 had already been organised for that senior side.
