THERE were plenty of entries in Moreton Border News Little Snappers My Favourite Thing photography competition.

We loved seeing what puts a smile on the faces of children who live in our readership catchment area.

Picking winners was a hard task but it had to be done.

If you haven’t won a prize this time, keep an eye on Moreton Border News because we will be announcing another competition soon.

Our first place getter was 10-year-old Walloon resident Sophia Skilton with her photograph of a quoll.

She wrote, ‘Quolls are my favourite animal because they have pretty spotted patterns on their fur. I particularly like the Spotted-Tailed Quoll, which is the type in this photo, as they also have spots on their tail, as their name suggests. The Spotted-Tailed Quoll is the largest carnivorous marsupial on the Australian mainland. Unfortunately, they are endangered, so we should do everything we can to ensure their survival. This photo was taken at Queens Park Nature Centre, which is my favourite place to visit in Ipswich because I like to see and learn about the different animals it has.’

Amelia Springall won a prize for her photograph of her budgie.

She wrote, ‘Joey my pet budgie is my favourite because he is very special as he only has one foot. Joey has so much strength and determination and lives a normal life. I don’t think he realises he only has one foot he does everything my other budgie does. He makes me really happy and I love my Joey.’

Other entries included Grace Georgiou’s happy snap at Rosewood Swimming Pool.

‘I chose the Rosewood pool because I like swimming and it is very fun, I have just started swimming lessons here and I love them’, the seven-year-old wrote.

Eden Skilton who lives at Walloon, said her favourite subject at school is science.

‘We have been learning about Light and how it can be reflected and refracted. I love rainbows and how they demonstrate how light from the sun gets split into multiple different colours that make up the rainbow due to reflection and refraction from raindrops’, the 12-year-old wrote in her entry.
