The Pascoe racing family – Zac, defending national champion Brad and dad Matt after one of their many speedway successes.
IT’S unusual to have seven weeks without super sedan speedway racing so close to the busy Christmas-New Year period.
However, that has been the case as a recent Toowoomba round was washed out after a month where no major events were scheduled.
The Mutdapilly-based Pascoe racing team welcomed a short break before a hectic run of upcoming events leading into the next national series starting next month.
Long-time racing dad Matt and his sons Brad and Zac head to Gladstone this weekend for a shot at the $20,000 prizemoney – the biggest reward offered.
They spent the enforced break in their workshop although not a lot of tinkering was needed after their earlier start to the 2024-25 season.
The father and son team finished first, second and third in both 35 lap feature finals at the speedway circuit in Gympie.
That was the fourth time in two seasons that the highly successful Pascoe family had secured all spots on the podium.
Brad placed third at the previous race in Gladstone.
Racing in Bundaberg before the extended break, Brad won and Matt came second.
Matt used the time free of racing to take care of workshop demands and make some minor adjustments to his car.
He said Brad was happy with his set-up and Zac “freshened up” his motor as they looked ahead.
After this weekend’s trip to Central Queensland, Brad and Zac will race over two nights in Bundaberg before Matt returns for another meeting in Gympie and the Ian Boettcher Classic in Toowoomba to close out the year.
The action hots up in early January with a trip to Avalon in Victoria and racing in Warrnambool the same week before the cars travel by boat to Tasmania for three prestigious events.

“It’s full-on now,” Matt said of the looming speedway challenges.
Multiple Queensland titleholder, Matt, hopes the winning formula devised at the Mutdapilly workshop brings renewed success and some valuable prizemoney.
Brad is the defending national champion, being crowned the top driver in the 2023-24 National Super Sedan Series, with four wins, 10 podiums and 17 top five finishes from 18 races.
Matt finished second and Zac was third in the previous national series.
