Rosewood’s free day out enjoyed by all
1 min read

THE circus came to town and with it a sprinkle of magic was scattered over Rosewood.

The family fun day was attended by more than 400 people and organised by the Rosewood and District Support Centre.

It was the perfect fix for school holiday boredom blues, the circus themed event bringing multiple activities to the grounds of the Anglican Church.

There were workshops, magic shows, craft and activities.

Johnny the Jester and Beji the balloon artist shared their skills through workshops and performances.

“Our goal is to support families and the community,” said community project worker Tia Lancaster.

“It’s about giving children an opportunity to participate in events and activities, connection and support.

“It’s about connecting people with each other and the services that are available to them, letting them know that we are here.

“By making the event free it means everyone could attend, we gave caregivers a morning off and an opportunity to connect with their children, community and services."

Organisations on hand to speak to parents and caregivers were representatives from Ipswich Youth Services, Legal Aid, Life Without Barriers, community policing and firefighters.

“Rosewood is so lucky to have so many amazing volunteers who step up and enable us to run events like the Rosewood Family Fun Days and the Rosewood Christmas Festival,” she said.

“They are the heart of our community and help us bring community together.”
